Ebony Horsewomen Equestrian & Animal Summer Day Camp

An 8-week equine-based program, our summer day camp is a full day of activity-packed fun and runs every Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, during the summer June 18 - August 10, 2018.
The Ebony Horsewomen Equestrian & Animal Day Camp has served youth, ages 5 – 19, in the Greater Hartford area and beyond for the past 30+ years. The Ebony Horsewomen day camp campus includes a fully-equipped 13-horse stable, outdoor riding rings, an indoor riding arena, meeting and lunch facilities, once-a-week field trips, and various farm animals as well as animal science classes, a gardening program, horseback riding, culinary classes, and arts and crafts.
The EHI summer day camp provides a wonderful opportunity for youth to have fun in a safe and nurturing environment during the summer while learning. Each year we add new activities to our summer camp program to ensure that both our first-time and returning campers remain engaged and interested.

Our Summer Equestrian & Animal Day Camp runs every summer and provides breakfast and lunch; agency referrals are accepted.

Scholarships are available but are usually limited.

Our day camp operates Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Founded in 1984

Ebony Horsewomen was founded by Patricia Kelly in 1984. This was the first African-American female equestrian organization of its kind in America. The organization is a full-service equestrian and agricultural youth development organization operating 7 days a week and changing the culture of inner-city and urban youth to equestrians and cowboys. The powerful impact of this organization has been experienced for over 29 years as it continues to develop a legacy of success and accomplishments in the youth and community it serves.

In the last 29 years...

- We established ourselves as the leading day camp provider for children aged 7-18
- We launched additional activities and courses
- We developed a strong reputation by constantly focusing on what parents and youth want
- We create an environment which encourages youth to thrive, learn and develop while making friends and having fun
