EHI Community Youth Programs

Making four-legged friends

Summer, school year, and weekend programs connect youth to nature and equine care throughout the year. A variety of programs engage ages 5-17 and offer them an opportunity to be a part of the equine community in their own neighborhood.

Summer Day Camp

Our 8-week, Summer Day Camp offers campers full days of outdoor fun, recreation, exercise, and horseback riding.  We provide snacks and lunch.

Campers develop and improve skills through hands-on activities with skilled instructors, and they are encouraged to work in teams while learning about themselves and others.

Our summer program supports camper’s personal growth in confidence, emotional health, leadership, self-esteem, and learning to respect one another in a nurturing environment. We model and encourage good citizenship, kindness, honesty, generosity, and camp spirit.

Fitness Programs
The camp counselors engage campers in team sports such as volleyball, handball, tennis, hiking, dance, yoga and aerobics, while having fun and encouraging skill development that will promote a lifetime focus on healthy living and wellness.

Horseback Riding
The highlight of our summer camp is caring for our horses and daily lessons in the English and Western riding disciplines. All of the horses in our herd have been carefully trained and selected for their even temperaments and we carefully match the horse that is most appropriate to the skill level of each rider.

Certified and trained instructors teach beginner riders horse safety and the basics of horseback riding.  Camper's who have more riding experience are evaluated by the instructors so that individual attention can be given to their skill development.

Groups of 4 to 5 riders are provided lessons by the instructors with the assistance of a minimum of three experienced counselors. This gives campers on every level the opportunity to enjoy the sport while building their confidence and riding skills.
